C.A.M.P. is gearing up for our 55th annual session this August 1 through 7 at Tar Hollow State Park in the hills of southeast Ohio. Those eligible to attend are youth going into the 6th grade in the fall of 2010 to 2010 high school graduates. C.A.M.P. runs junior and senior programs simultaneously. Our program originally began as an outreach youth camp sponsored by Gahanna Community Church and its then minister, Rev. John Selvey in the mid '50s. Rev. Selvey asked for the help of the youth group leaders, Dave ("Boonie") and Janice (Janny) Brizius in 1956, thus beginning the journey that has evolved into the now independent motivational youth program called C.A.M.P., Constructing Assured and Motivated People. The program continues to be interdenominational, but no particular church affiliation is required. Our one week is chock-full of fun with many opportunities for personal and spiritual growth. We have a variety of classes to choose from taught by one of our many volunteer staff members that have gone through a background screening and training. Many of our staff members were once campers and love to return to "pay back" to this program. We have four cabin-filled hills, with 2 hills dedicated to the male campers and counselors and 2 hills for female campers and counselors. The cabins sleep 8 each with a minimum camper to counselor ratio of 1 to 7. Many cabins will have 2 counselors. Classes that may be offered include canoeing, archery, journalism, rappelling, fencing, cooking, and all types of crafts. Campers may also join the C.A.M.P. Band if you love to play an instrument! In addition to the State Park Rangers, C.A.M.P. provides its own security personnel, and we have immediate communication throughout the entire facility.
Please take a moment and read over the information and instructions to register for C.A.M.P. 2010! It will be the best week of your summer!
